Scaborough Memories

The popular seaside town of Scarborough is fortunate to have been the subject chosen by several amateur and professional film-makers over the last 50 years. Thanks to their interest we are able to see for the first time a compilation of films which chart the ever-changing face of this famous resort. Included in this nostalgic feast are rare, never before seen images of the town. The films, dating from the 1940s through to the 1970s, vividly capture the town during those far off days. Amongst the earliest recordings are scenes taken between 1946-47, featuring the locals enjoying festivities such as Shrove Tuesday and Boxing Day, where great crowds can be seen gathering to dance, skip and play games. An evocative and enchanting twenty minute colour film, produced to promote Scarborough in the 1950s, features many aspects of the town during that period. Delightful sequences recall the town during the height of it’s popularity and success. Watch the fashions change as decade upon decade of visitors enjoy Scarborough’s attractions. Films taken during the 1960’s and ’70s recall the town during those eras. These and other films included in this DVD offer the viewer a historic and informative Journey Through Time
