Crossing the Oceans - Part Two DVD
The majestic Cunard ¡®Queens' were symbols of their age - an age of elegance and romance. Part Two of our series begins with extensive footage of Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. They sail majestically into Southampton and dock at the busy Ocean Terminal. We have unique film of both liners on their last voyages. Queen Mary is bound for Long Beach, California with a London bus stowed on her after deck whereas Queen Elizabeth is seen in Gibraltar on her way to Hong Kong. Other Cunarders are shown in Liverpool.
The transatlantic theme continues with striking scenes of United States and two other US liners. Two Canadian Pacific liners are shown leaving Liverpool en-route to Montreal. The Royal Mail Line is represented by Andes and Arlanza as we move to the South American routes. Akaroa and Northern Star fly the Shaw Savill flag together with other famous names. A long chapter is devoted to the Union Castle Line and we finish with rare film of British troopships.
