Produced with the assistance of the Tyne and Wear Archive Service and using rare film footage from its splendid collection, this production presents a unique insight into the changing face of the city during the 20th Century.

* Newcastle in the 1920s, featuring the great North East Coast Exhibition of 1929.
* Armistice Day and Military Training in the late 1930s.
* The Queen's visit to Tyneside in 1954, where large crowds crammed into the centre of Newcastle to see her open-car tour.
* Evocative colour images that capture beautifully the atmosphere of the shipyards and the Tyne in the 1950s, including the construction and launch of the Katsina Palm, built at Swan Hunter in 1957.
* Colour '50s film illustrating student life with rare scenes of the city around that time.
* The major redevelopment programme of the 1960s, where many of the slum areas were replaced by high-rise flats.
* A day in the life of Newcastle in 1973, which takes a fascinating look at the city from six to midnight.
