Gloucester - A History

Gloucester - A History
The city of Gloucester began life as a Roman Settlement and developed into one of the most significant of the Nation's Towns. Throughout the centuries it has played a prominent role in national events - William the Conqueror made his decision to compile the 'Domesday Survey' at a Great Council meeting here, both Henry III was crowned and Edward II was buried, at the Cathedral. Today, Gloucester has become a busy modern city, but it is still possible to see many reminders of its long and distinguished past in the streets and buildings.

The history of the city is illustrated using photographs, pictures and modern footage to show how Gloucester has developed from the past to the present day.

* The Roman Settlement.
* The Norman Cathedral.
* The Churches and Friaries.
