Description

The 17th Century saw London rocked to its foundations by a double disaster. Hardly had the victims of the previous year's Great Plague been buried when the Great Fire of September 1666 destroyed five-sixths of the city. In just four days the blaze had rendered 100,000 Londoners homeless, a major tragedy following the earlier epidemic's huge death toll. This DVD graphically charts these catastrophic events and their aftermath with the help of contemporary illustrations and dramatic "eyewitness" accounts. Narrated by Peter Twist
